SAC to hold first Technology and Innovation seminar for Airports during IBAS

The Brazilian Civil Aviation Secretariat has chosen the IBAS – International Brazil Air Show to host its 1st Seminar on Technology and Innovation for Airports, which seeks to discuss and present the latest technological innovations that can improve the development of airport operations in Brazil.

“The main idea is to take a step forward at the current technological level to improve passenger service at Brazilian airports. In addition, with more modern techniques and processes, it will be possible to improve safety and security with more current, more efficient equipment. Another positive point is that new technologies can reduce the cost of operating the airport in the medium and long term “says Paula Henrique Possas, Director of the Airport Management Department of the Civil Aviation Secretariat / SAC-PR

The seminar will take place on March 29, 2017 in the afternoon, shortly after the opening ceremony of the IBAS – International Brazil Air Show, divided into two parts, Air Side and Land Side, to show the new technologies possible to be implemented.

“We want to attract large companies in the industry and large air and airport operators to foster partnerships. We believe that the resumption of economic growth is underway and this is perhaps the best time to implement new technologies that bring more efficiency and reduce the costs of the players in the industry. The thinking now should not be short but medium and long term, “he continues.

Companies from the segment will be invited to lecture on the different panels of the afternoon, among them: Pavement, signage and track lighting; Accessibility, transportation of people and luggage; Wayfinding, vehicle control and passenger information; Technologies for handling and security in baggage control; Technologies available for passenger processing; among others.

“As an airline industry, we need to get more and more into the developed world. I believe that the concessions started this process, including international recognition of our performance indicators. But we can go further. Technologies such as Bag Drop, LED lighting, tri-articulated buses for remote shipment, for example, can bring us more efficiency and, at the same time, can reduce costly and unnecessary operations. And I think the industry is ripe for this new step, “concludes the Director.
