The future is therefore collaborative! This will be the main focus of the international A-CDM Seminar which will take place in Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, between 9 and 10 September, 2019.

Organized by DECEA, GRU Airport and Action Editora, the event has the mission of publicizing the A-CDM process in order to increase efficiency in the South American continent. Through presentations and panels, topics concerning the implementation, concepts and financial gains acquired through the system will be debated and discussed. GRU Airport as a pilot project will make a presentation as well as DECEA, the driving force behind A-CDM in Brasil and a fulcrum for the continent.

A-CDM, Airport collaborative Decision Making is a system that was developed with the objective of improving operational efficiency of all airport operators, reducing delays, increasing efficiency, and optimizing the use of resources thus maximizing the operational capability of the airport.

To achieve this, the A-CDM concept involves the implementation of a series of operational procedures and automized processes through which information is joined and shared in teal time among the several operators including airlines, handling companies, government operational, administrative and service providing agencies, as well as traffic control departments. The sharing of A-CDM  data also provides a post operational analysis and the registry of typical or uncommon operational tendencies allowing for better planning and operational predictability. In practice, everyone works collaboratively, share information and present fast, efficient and integrated solutions.

A-CDM is a reality in Europe where in early 2019, twenty-eight of the continent’s major airports already had the system implemented which means that only 1/3 of the traffic under the auspices of Eurocontrol  – the European organization responsible for air navigation, occur outside the A-CDM system. Outside Europe A-CDM is being implemented at the airports of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, Auckland, in New Zealand and Singapore.

In Latin America, air traffic should double in the next two decades and the implementation of A-CDM will allow an efficient management of the predicted growth , not only to increase fluidity but to ensure better operational cost benefit. In Brazil the advent of A-CDM is being made possible after the signing of an agreement  between the Department of Air Space Control (DECEA) and Eurocontrol in October 2015. This agreement ensures the exchange of information and operational data regarding flights between Europe and South America especially that which involves AFTM – Air Traffic Flow Management.

The Seminar will gather leaders and representatives of several aviation sectors  such as the airspace industry, international civil aviation agencies, DECEA, the continent’s most important airports, Brazilian and International airlines and handling firms at Guarulhos International Airport. The event promises to become an opportunity to discuss not only information, and ideas but a new operational concept for South American aviation.
